Mark Scheifele is hurt. He’s hurt bad. It might be a long term issue. Because he was hurt really bad. Mark Scheifele was. Hurt really, really bad.
Oh yeah, the Jets won a fantastically entertaining game by a 4-3 score over the Edmonton Oilers, but you’ll excuse us if we keep holding our breath here for a bit now..
Let’s get the bad stuff out of the way. Midway through the second, Scheifele took a bit of a bump and fell awkwardly into the boards…
In his post-game comments, head coach Paul Maurice stated that they would get a better look at the injury tomorrow, but also added “You hope he just pops right up, has the wind knocked out of him, but when he stays down you know it’s not good.”
We’ll have more on Mark’s injury over the next few days as we learn more… But for now let’s recap what ended up being a very important win over the Edmonton Oilers in maybe one of the more entertaining games the Jets were involved in all season.

HOW DID THEY CORSI?

Matchups are limited to 5-on-5 situations. Tile size is scaled by Time On Ice and colour is scaled by adjusted Expected Goals differential. Blue represents a home team advantage and red represents a road team advantage.

PLAYERS OF THE GAME

For Winnipeg: Joel Armia – Two goals and had a handful of chances for that third goal that proved to be quite elusive. Saw some people say it was maybe his best game ever as a Jet… Hard to argue.
For Edmonton: Jesse Puljujarvi – He isn’t about to make jets fans ever regret taking Laine over him, but he did have a goal and seven shots while holding his own being matched up against the Jets top defensive pair.

NEXT FLIGHT

The Jets will see the Oilers again soon on New years Eve, but before then, the New York Islanders pay a visit to Winnipeg with the Jets hopefully thinking about revenge on Friday night.
