The Jets were coming off their best performance of the season after a 5-0 shutout win, the Red Wings were licking their wounds after a 10-1 loss. Tonight though it was the Wings that played some inspired hockey while the Jets didn’t come out very sharp and played like a team that may have expected things to come easily to them based on who they were.
The Jets end up dropping a 5-1 loss to Detroit in a game marred by bad penalties (Morrissey and Myers taking two each themselves) and bad passing. On chances they did have, Jimmy Howard seemed to turn back the clock a bit to 2010-2011 Howard as he made 24 stops on 25 saves.

SCORING SUMMARY

GIF RECAP

So we didn’t actually create any GIFs of the game tonight, and all things considered, it’s probably for the best.
But here is a GIF of the one lone Jets highlight and we’ve actually made it a video! Patrik Laine’s laser goal.

HOW DID THEY CORSI?

PLAYERS OF THE GAME

FOR WINNIPEG: Dmitry Kulikov Kulikov arguably had the best game of any Jet tonight which sadly isn’t saying much, but give him credit for a shot block after having his stick snapped by an initial shot block seconds earlier, while trying to kill a five on three penalty kill.
FOR DETROIT: Gustav Nyquist Two goals and an assist and led the Wings in shots taken with four.

NEXT FLIGHT

It’s off to Florida for next pair of games as the Jets will take on the Panthers on Thursday
