Yes, we’ve stated the Jets have had dominant performances this season, but this time we mean it. A 5-0 win over the Ottawa Senators and it really wasn’t ever in doubt from the opening puck drop.

Five goals before they even got halfway through the game, they ended up with 49 shots on goal – 22 of those came in the third period. Connor Hellebuyck didn’t get tested much, but was still able to post up a 21 save shutout which was his first of the season.

Four Jets had multiple points. The penalty kill was three for three. The power play was three for five including two goals scored in the second period when the Sens took two penalties back to back and the Jets punished them with goals in the span of 30 seconds.

The Jets were so dominant, that they did what is pretty much the hockey equivalent of “running out the clock” when they had a power play late in the game…

Domination. The only thing that kept it from being perfect was the lack of a Byfuglien goal.

FOR WINNIPEG: Blake Wheeler – Tough to pick just one Jet because a lot of them were worthy of a pick, but we’ll go with the captain who had a goal and added three assists and six shots on goal.

FOR OTTAWA: Craig Anderson – Came in relief after the Jets had scored their fifth goal and proceeded to stop 27 shots taken on him over the next 33 minutes. Was the only bright spot for the Sens.

The Jets head back onto the road for a three-game road trip through the east, starting with their first visit to the new Little Caesars Arena in Detroit to take on the Red Wings this Tuesday.
