We have one more final preseason game to get through tonight before we cab turn our attention fully to the regular season starting next week. The Jets travel to Calgary to take on a Flames squad that has had a really tough preseason. (Yes, tougher than even what the Jets have had.)
The two teams met five nights ago in Winnipeg and saw the Jets skate away with a 5-2 win.
Don’t forget we have a party to kick off that new season happening at The Pint in downtown Winnipeg that we all want you to attend!

WINNIPEG JETS LINES & NOTES

Forwards
Nic Petan – Mark Scheifele – Kyle Connor
Nik Ehlers – Bryan Little – Patrik Laine
Marko Dano – Andrew Copp – JC Lipon
Brandon Tanev – Joel Armia – Shaw Matthias
Defense
Josh Morrissey – Jacob Trouba
Tucker Poolman – Tyler Myers
Tobias Enstrom – Dmitry Kulikov
Goaltenders
Steve Mason
Connor Hellebuyck
  • A handful of players will get one final chance to make a case for staying on with the big club and playing on the Jets fourth line. Dano, Lipon, Tanev, Lemieux and Matthias are arguable on the poverbial bubble and will need to impress.
  • Nic Petan and Kyle Connor – two players who many Jets fans were worried would be brushed off to the side by the coaching staff – finish off the preseason on the top line. Don’t expect them to stay up there come October 4th, but you can probably relax and know that they’ve both earned a spot on the roster.
  • Steve Mason will get his third start of the preseason. He’s 1-1-0 with a .904 save percentage.

CALGARY FLAMES LINES & NOTES

Matthew Tkachuk  – Mikael Backlund – Michael Frolik
Kris Versteeg- Sam Bennett – Troy Brouwer
Tanner Glass – Mark Jankowski – Curtis Lazar
Defense
Mark Giordano – Dougie Hamilton
TJ Brodie – Travis Hamonic
Matt Bartkowski – Michael Stone
Goaltenders
Mike Smith
Eddie Lack
  • Mike Smith is (according to the Flames official website) going to get the start tonight as he prepares for life as Calgary’s #1. It hasn’t been a very good run for him as he’s appeared in three games sporting a 1-1-0 record, but a dismal looking .850 save percentage.
  • The Flames have struggled in preseason, but Johnny Gaudreau has not as he leads the team in preseason scoring with 2 goals and 4 points in just three games played.
  • The Flames last game was a 3-1 loss to the Canucks in Vancouver on Thursday night. Sean Monahan had his third preseason goal in as many games and Mike Smith did have a slight bit better showing stopping 27 of 30 shots against,
