JN Flight Plan: Vancouver Canucks at Winnipeg Jets
The @Winnipeg Jets need a win at home and need it almost in the worst way. The team last won on Bell MTS Place ice back on December 15 and since then haven’t won in any of the last six games. A win will also keep the Jets solidly in the playoff race both in the Central division and within the Western Conference. One of the Western Conference clubs the Jets needs to keep an eye on is @Tyler Myers and the @Vancouver Canucks who are two points ahead of them in the standings and come in to tonight’s game having won their last two on the road.

Last Canucks Game
The Canucks were really the better team almost all game but needed a flurry of goals in the third period – three of them to be exact – to pull away from a Pesky Minnesota Wild team and earn their second win on their most recent road trip with a 4-1 victory.

Fun Canucks Facts…
- @Quinn Hughes was added into all-star weekend through the 2020 NHL All-Star Last Men In online voting program. Hughes, 20, becomes the 11th Canucks defenceman to be named to an All-Star Game roster, and first since @Alex Edler in 2012.
- @Tanner Pearson is one goal away from collecting his 100th career goal. Only three other players from his 2012 draft class have gotten over the 100 mark.
- @Elias Petterson is one of five active players to reach the 30-point mark in fewer than 30 games in each of his first two or more NHL seasons. The others: @Sidney Crosby (10x) @Evgeni Malkin (9x) @Alex Ovechkin (6x) and @Connor McDavid (5x).
What CanucksArmy Is Saying…
“The position of defenceman has evolved over the years. Gone are the days of the 6″4′ defencemen who play tough around their net. You now need to have defenceman who can skate and move the puck up ice. Losing @Eric Gudbranson and bringing in players like @Quinn Hughes and @Tyler Myers. The NHL is evolving and the fact that the Canucks are ahead of the curve with a defencemen like Hughes and @Troy Stecher is great for the longevity of this team’s defence corps.”
Last Jets Game
All it took was one single goal to sink the Jets on Sunday as a poor first period cost them a lead and they couldn’t ever get it back in a 1-0 loss to the Nashville Predators.

Fun Jets Facts…
- Winnipeg has four forwards that have reached 40 points this season, which is only matched in the NHL by the Canucks.
- @Josh Morrissey and @Neal Pionk each played more than 25 minutes in Sunday’s game against Nashville. Pionk has played at least 25 minutes in three of his past five games and leads the Jets in ice time per game this season with 23:20, while Morrissey is second at 22:59.
- The Jets have won nine games in a row against Vancouver and have outscored the Canucks 31-10 in the nine games. Winnipeg has won 13 of the past 14 games against the Canucks and have points in 16 of the past 18 meetings (14-2-2).
What We’re Saying…
After suffering a lower-body injury during the Jets 1-0 loss to the Nashville Predators, Tucker Poolman has been ruled out for tonight’s game against the Canucks. Following Monday’s practice, coach Paul Maurice confirmed to the media that Poolman would be sidelined until either the end of Winnipeg’s upcoming three-game road trip or until after the All-Star break.
