This game marks the first of three meetings between the Jets and Kings, during their series last season the Jets won two out of three games against the team from La La Land.

Last Kings Game
After a slow first period, the Kings overwhelmed the Flames with three goals in the second period from @Jeff Carter, Anze Kopitar and @Ilya Kovalchuk to push their lead to 4-0. Despite the Flames lone goal in the third, the Kings’ dominating performance during the middle period earned them their third win of the season.

Fun Kings Facts…
- Entering tonight’s game, the Kings have averaged the second-most shots on net per game. Their 37.6 shots/game currently ranks just 0.3 behind the league-leading Panthers, who have averaged 37.9 shots/game this season.
- The Kings need to adjust their sights as they own the third-most missed shots on net coming into this game. Through eight games, the Kings have produced 112 missed opportunities on net, which ranks 3rd in the Western Conference.
- MILESTONE WATCH: Center Kopitar enters this game three points shy of 900 for his career.
What They’re Saying…
An interesting thing to watch early on the road trip is if this team is able to find some balance and regularity within their lines, because beyond the more hardened Iafallo-Kopitar-Brown line, there’s some encouraging chemistry brewing largely with the Lizotte and Amadio groups, both of which have played a pretty good straight-line, downhill game.
LA Kings Insider – Key to success during four-game road trip
With new head coach Todd McLellan taking over behind the bench this season for the Los Angeles Kings, one of the things he was charged with was making his new team faster and more aggressive up the ice. That meant that the system they played would have to change, at least somewhat.

Last Jets Game
Neither goaltender gave an inch during regulation as both @Connor Hellebuyck and @Mike Smith held the game scoreless through three periods and during three-on-three overtime as well. Thanks to goals from @Kyle Connor and @Patrick Laine during the shootout, the Jets ended their personal three-game losing streak.

Fun Jets Facts…
- MILESTONES WATCH: Center @Mathieu Perreault remains just one point away for 200 total in his career. Laine also enters this game seeking his 200th career point, as the Jets’ winger is just four points away from reaching that milestone.
- Entering tonight, the Jets currently own five losses by two points or more, which ranks second-most throughout the entire league by that margin.
- Through ten games this season, the Jets have surrendered more goals than any other team during the second period. Entering tonight, the Jets have allowed a league-leading 16 goals in the second period.
What We’re Saying…
It took slightly longer than expected, but Maurice was finally able to nab his 700th coaching victory of his career. He’s just the seventh coach in the history of the NHL to get that feat. That doesn’t mean things are all rosy for Pomo as the coaching records have him as the losingest coach in NHL history. Debates will be had for a long time whether or not Maurice is a good coach or not, but his longevity in the league is something to marvel at.
