JGD 12: Jets travel to Joe Louis Arena one last time to face Wings

The Jets will make their way to the historic Joe Louis Arena for one final time tonight. The injury riddled Jets ( to say the least) will have to make due with the lineup that they have. Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford, Shawn Matthias and Bryan Little are on the shelf and the Jets lineup seems to be getting younger by the day.
Puck drop is slated for 6:30 PM CT and you can catch the game on TSN3 and as always you can give the game a listen on TSN 1290.

  • The Jets second line looks pretty interesting tonight. It’s an interesting idea suiting up Tanev on that type of line, but the reason is obvious. The Jets ran a speed line with Ehlers-Perreault-Connor, but with the injuries up front the deck needs to be shuffled. Inserting the aggressive and speedy forechecker Tanev in to the lineup while Ehlers moves to the first line will give the Jets the speedy second line they have usually rolled.
  • Don’t look at the Jets back-end unless you want a headache.
  • It’ll be nice to see Nic Petan back in the lineup. Petan’s been overshadowed by other top prospects, but the undersized forward has the creativity and skill to make somewhat of an impact at the NHL level.
  • Interesting to see the Jets keep the Morrissey and Byfuglien pairing together despite all the injuries the Jets have had. The pairing gel’s quite nicely together and I guess the thinking is to have them eat up a big chunk of minutes together rather than reducing their workload but separating them.
