Jets Prospect Update – March 22nd

The CHL regular season’s wrapped up, NCAA conferences were won, and a depleted Moose team managed to split a two game series. Check in on all this and more in this weeks prospects update.

The Moose only played two games this week managing to split a two game series with the Lake Erie Monsters. Connor Hellebuyck had a nice bounce back stopping all 36 shots he faced in his start and Jimmy Lodge took advantage of the extra ice time picking up two assists. Brendan Kichton also scored in Friday’s game and Julian Melchiori chipped in an empty netter. Saturday’s game saw the tables turn however as it was the Moose who found themselves shut out. Eric Comrie had a rough game allowing five goals on forty shots against.

Brendan Lemieux’s season came to an end with him sitting out Windsor’s last several games to rest up for the playoffs. Lemieux established himself as one of the premier offensive players in OHL this season finishing top-10 in goals per game and top 15 in primary points per game.

Jansen Harkins season came to an end with him scoring one goal in the final two games of the season. Harkins offense fell off in a big way this season but the largest chunk of that was secondary assists which fell from 24 last year to just 8 this season. While it doesn’t really excuse the poor production it is a pretty good indication that it was at least partially poor luck based.

Michael Spacek ended the regular season with one goal and two assists in his final three games played. Spacek started the season on fire but then saw his production drop after the first month and a half. Spacek finished fourth in team scoring and was one of the top rookie scorers in the WHL.

Matteo Gennaro’s season ended with a goal and three assists in the last three games. Gennaro saw a nice increase in production going from .43 points per game last year to .61 this season.

Nelson Nogier finished up his regular season with one assist in three games. Nogier saw a modest bump in production this as he was primarily deployed as the shutdown half of Red Deer’s top pairing with Haydn Fleury.

Kyle Connor’s Michigan Wolverine’s won the Big 10 tournament with Connor taking home the MVP honors. Connor scored four goals in Friday’s semi final win and then followed that up with another goal and three assists in the final. As winners of the Big 10 Michigan will be taking part in the MidWest Regional tournament.

C.J. Franklin had one assist in the semi finals but was held off the scoresheet as Minnesota State lost to Ferris state in the WCHA Tournament finals.

Tucker Poolman was held pointless as North Dakota was upset in their semi final match-up. Poolman will get at least one more game however as North Dakota comes in as the top seed in the MidWest Regional tournament leading in to the Frozen Four.

Mason Appleton couldn’t find the scoresheet as Michigan State lost to Ohio State in their Big 10 qualifier match-up.

It took three overtimes but when it was settled Providence was knocked out in their semi-final match against UMass-Lowell. Erik Foley was held scoreless but similarly to Poolman in North Dakota he will still be going to the NCAA tournament in the NorthEast Regional.

Jack Glover had one assist in his two games as Minnesota was eliminated by Michigan in the Big 10 finals.

Jamie Phillips has played his last NCAA game as Michigan Tech lost to eventual champions Ferris state in their semi final match-up. Phillips stopped 31 of 32 shots in the loss.

CSKA advanced to the third round of the KHL playoffs after beating Torpedo in five games. Telegin has one goal and one assist through eight games in the playoffs.
