Jets F Pierre-Luc Dubois Misses Second Straight Practice Ahead of Playoff Matchup Against Oilers

Following one of the most unpredictable regular seasons in NHL history, the Winnipeg Jets are slated to face off against the Edmonton Oilers in the opening round of this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs, however, this team still isn’t 100 percent healthy ahead of this highly-anticipated showdown.

After missing Sunday’s practice due to an undisclosed injury, forward @Pierre-Luc Dubois was absent once again during Monday’s team skate and coach Paul Maurice doesn’t seem overly confident about his center’s chances of returning to the ice before the club travels to Edmonton.

Considering the Jets and Oilers are scheduled to open this playoff series on Wednesday, it’ll be very concerning if Dubois, 22, doesn’t participate in Tuesday’s practice, resulting in a potential third consecutive absence. If that occurs, his final opportunity to receive some on-ice work would come during Wednesday’s morning skate at Rogers Place.

Along with Dubois, teammate @Paul Stastny also missed Sunday’s practice at Bell MTS Place, although he returned Monday and was seen wearing a regular jersey. As for forwards @Andrew Copp and @Nikolaj Ehlers, they’ve each been on the ice over the last two days and have been donning yellow, non-contact jerseys.

Through 26 career playoff games, the former Columbus Blue Jacket has averaged 20:54 minutes of ice time per game, producing eight goals, 19 points – including 10 points during the 2020 postseason – 73 hits, 62 shots on goal, 18 blocks, 16 takeaways and a 46.6% faceoff percentage.

Winnipeg and Edmonton are slated to open this potential seven-game series on Wednesday, with puck drop scheduled for 9 pm CT.
