Breaking down the 2016-2017 broadcasting schedule

The Winnipeg Jets have announced that for the upcoming 2016-2017 season, 60 of the Jets 82 game schedule games on TSN3 for a second consecutive season. Jets fans not residing in Manitoba but close by areas such as Saskatchewan, Nunavut, the Northwest Territories and parts of Northwestern Ontario can catch all 60 games on TSN3 as well. Dennis Beyak and Shane Hnidy will be back in the booth for TSN3 with Sara Orlesky being rink side for a 6th season too.

What about the other 22 games in the year?

You can catch those on CBC and Rogers Sportsnet where they will be nationally televised and partially solely telecasted to the Jets region.

Can’t catch the game on TV, what do I do?

Nothing has changed in the radio side of things, TSN 1290 will be broadcasting all of the Jets 82 regular season games with Dennis Beyak, Paul Edmonds handling play by play duties along with Brian Munz and Shane Hnidy serving as the analysts.

Three thoughts

1) Speaking of more coverage, why not add a once a week Jets TV show? The channel added Jets lunch which is hosted by Rick Ralph in a radio/TV broadcast. While streaming the radio broadcast on TV provides more content and a sort of Jets TV show in a way, having a 30 minute exclusive Jets coverage show once a week could be a solid addition and a nice change from the frequent and exclusive coverage from TSN 1290.
2) How awesome would it be if TSN3 had a behind the scenes and full access show for the Jets modelling ones like 24CH with the Montreal Canadians and OilChange for the Edmonton Oilers? Don’t get your hopes up on this happening in the near future as True North Sports and entertainment doesn’t open their doors too often and it’s hard to think they’d start with more behind the scene access and jump in to such a commitment.
3) Dennis Beyak is awesome. Say what you want about him, he can get on some nerves by announcing when two players go in a corner and each have the same number or providing weird facts, but he has a very loveable and exciting play by play voice.
