Be sure to check Betway to check out the latest Jets game day odds and bet on the NHL! We are just ten days away from Christmas, which means Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick will hopefully be stopping by your place with some gifts. I am hoping that the old boy reads this and can bring us some great gifts for the Winnipeg Jets and maybe me a small Jets themed gift.
RHD
I know the Jets’ defense has been incredible so far this season, but I want a right-handed defenseman to play in the Jets’ top four. Just someone who can elevate Josh Morrissey up to being a legit elite defenseman. We all know Morrissey is just on the cusp of being elite; he just needs that player who can make him even better.
That last part of the letter isn’t me trying to rag on Dylan DeMelo. I think he would be a great fit with Brendan Dillon. A right-shot defenseman would be just what the Jets need for a deep playoff run.
Look at Connor Hellebuyck and tell me he couldn’t use a great defender. Imagine him in the back half of the season with a 1.80 goals against because he was seeing even fewer quality shots against.
Whatever it takes to get Morrissey in the Norris finalist conversations or even the trophy itself.
Awards
Folks love to sleep on Winnipeg as a place to play and more so as a place to receive awards. Since the return of the Jets, they have two individual awards. Kyle Connor with the Lady Byng in 2022 and Connor Hellebuyck with the Vezina Trophy in 2020.
Although individual awards don’t mean a whole lot to players and staff, as the goal is winning the Stanley Cup, we do need to celebrate in-season success.
This could be the year that Kevin Cheveldayoff wins the Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award. I’ll do a full breakdown of why he should win later this season. Having a competent GM will help bring players over along with playoff success. As of right now, the Jets will have about 24 million dollars in free cap space next offseason; we might as well use it to bring in some of the best players to have a deep playoff run in 2025.
In the summer, it felt like a lot of people were writing off this year for the Jets as just another average year for them, but so far, it looks like the tandem of Rick Bowness and Scott Arniel being the bench bosses this year has been the ticket to success. The Jets have been playing like a band of underrated brothers, with the help of Bowness and his staff they should be properly rewarded.
Winning the Central would be pretty darn cool if you can’t bring the cup to Winnipeg in June. It’s a solid secondary ask. If you could slow down the Colorado Avalanche and the Dallas Stars just a little so we can hang a banner in Canada Life Centre and take on probably the Nashville Predators or the Arizona Coyotes in the first round.

JETS NATION PRESENTED BY BETWAY

50-goal season/A healthy KFC
Listen, Santa, I made a bad bet in the offseason with a friend saying the Jets will have a 50-goal scorer, and I was feeling good about the bold bet prior to Sunday, but Ryan Strome wrecked that for me.
Could you please bring some knee-healing juice from the North Pole for Kyle Connor? That would be great! So the guy could be back and rolling by mid-January; he could still catch the 50-goal mark and be the first one to do so since returning to Winnipeg.
If you really wanted to impress me, bring back a healthy Kyle Connor soon and have him win the Rocket Richard.
A Jets jersey for me
I am going to be a little selfish with part of the list; could I get either a Sam Gagner second reverse retro jersey or a Vlad Namestnikov 1948 RCAF jersey? I would be oh so happy, and I would look great on the outdoor rink (If it ever opens this year).

As we are drawing closer to Christmas and the New Year, I would like to take a moment to say thanks to each and every one of you who has taken a moment to visit this site as well as follow Jets Nation on Facebook, Instagram, X, and TikTok. However you celebrate this time of year, may it be joyous and filled with friends and family. Drive safe if you are on the roads and please don’t drink and drive.
2024 is going to be a great big year for the Jets and Jets Nation.
