Jets At The Juniors: A Wrap-Up

Another year, another great tournament. Some of the most exciting International Hockey is now behind us, and I want to take a look back at what happened.

Three of our Jets Prospects were involved, and played some big roles.

Don’t know who they are?

Before we go into how our Jets did, let’s take a look at the tournament as a whole. There were ups and downs, celebration and heart break. As this tournament usually does, it captured the hearts of many, and had us hanging off the edge of our seats in some cases. Through the group stage, we had some great hockey. We got to see that remarkable post-game celebration from Team Slovakia after shocking the world by beating the United States. Or how about that snowy scene as Canada took on the United States outside at New Era Field. Such great moments! Hard to believe we have to wait until Boxing Day to see it all over again.

Now, how did our Jets do?

Kristian Vesalainen

Vesalainen looked very solid throughout this entire tournament, and started flashing his offensive talent in the later games. While Team Finland didn’t get as far as they’d like, Vesalainen settling in was a pleasant sight.

Dylan Samberg

Samberg and Team USA were Bronze Medal winners this year, and we know they would have wanted to defend their Gold, but we got a look at some really solid players. Dylan Samberg often play near or more than 20 minutes a night, and looked rather comfortable out there.

Mikhail Berdin

Unfortunately, I’m not able to offer much insight on our young goalie prospect, as he didn’t get a look for Team Russia in the tournament. He’ll still be a really fun watch as he develops in the USHL this season, and hey, maybe he’ll score a few more goals.

Until Next Tournament….

It’s been a lot of fun watching some great hockey, and bringing these reports to all of you. Can’t wait until Boxing Day! See you in Vancouver/Victoria!
