Your Knee Jerk Twitter Reactions: Trouba For Pionk & 20th Overall

Late Monday afternoon the Winnipeg Jets traded Jacob Trouba to the New York Rangers for Neal Pionk and the 20th overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft – a pick that originally belonged to the Jets but was sent to New York in the Kevin Hayes deal.
As always with Hockey Twitter, reactions were fast and furious and most of them to say the very least were highly critical of the somewhat underwhelming return for Trouba – a return that was hyped up over the last few days when we had heard reports of multiple NHL clubs in the bidding for the 26 year old RFA defenseman.

As you might expect – and for good reason – Jets fans were less than thrilled with the deal.

Other members of the hockey media both local and national weighed in.

This is probably as good a deal as the #NHLJets could have made for Trouba- at least under the circumstances. I don’t think it’s realistic that “perceived” market value could have ever been achieved

At the very least, NY Ranger fans were more than thrilled with the deal and start a week where they are about to land a number two pick with a top pairing defenseman…

Some Jets fans while not thrilled with the deal continue to keep the faith and hope for the best. Other Jets fans were all too happy to see the departure of a player who never seemed fully committed to the team.

If Alan’s jersey collection is any indication, he may be a harbinger of worse things to come…

Strap in everyone, the Jets summer of apparent discontent is just beginning!
