WWYDW: I want to be the very best…

“There’s no doubt in my mind. In this sport, you can’t say, ‘Oh, you know, that was great. I just hope to stay amongst them.’ I’m pushing to be better than Connor, better than Sid.” Those are some bold words from Scheifele, but words that fans should be happy to hear. Logically speaking, he’s probably not going to be better than them, but the fact he wants to work to be that way speaks great volumes.

Scheifele working out this offseason.
More specifically, the quote was referring to his point scoring pace. When you look at it that way, it’s more reasonable. Jamie Benn and Patrick Kane have done it in recent years, so for Scheifele to take that step forward wouldn’t be too outrageous. He was 7th in points for the league at the end of last season, leading the league at a few points in the season. He’s young and willing to put the work in, so that says a lot. As the wingers around him mature, it’s quite possible that he could pull it off.
What Would You Do JetsNation?
Do you think his comments are just lip service? Do you think it’s possible for him to pull it off? What would it take to pull it off?
