WWYDW: Barrie big Trouba

Jacob Trouba still hasn’t signed yet, and to some, that’s a little bit concerning. After all, most teams across the league have already locked up the bulk of their Restricted Free Agents and are more or less ready to go for next year.
But some have suspected that the Jets are looking for a comparable, and they might get one this week in Tyson Barrie.
Barrie and Trouba are both considered to be the cream of the crop as far as RFA right-handed defencemen go, though they aren’t the exact same player by any means. Barrie is a fair bit more productive and a slightly better net possession player, but is there years younger and a little bit physically smaller.
Nonetheless, whether this goes to arbitration or gets settled, this could be an immediate reference point made by the end result. So our question for this week’s “What Would You Do Wednesday”, with that considered is…
How much of an impact will Barrie’s contract make on Trouba’s? Do you think that, with the two sides being less than 48 hours away from sharing a room and talking down at each other, that a quick resolution will lead to the Jets and Trouba coming to terms shortly after? Do you think it makes a noticeable salary impact? Or is this situation going to keep drumming to its own beat, with Trouba’s agents pitching him as a unique player with unique circumstances until they get what they want.
We’re all ears. Give us a response in the comments below with how much of a difference you feel this makes!
