<p>Following a 3-0 win over the @Washington Capitals on Thursday, the @Winnipeg Jets are now preparing to face off against the @Edmonton Oilers for the second time this season. Back on Oct. 20, the Jets defeated the Oilers 1-0 in a shootout. With a win later tonight, Winnipeg would capture their third straight season series win against Edmonton.</p>

<p>Coming into this matchup, the Oilers have lost four of their last five games and are currently riddled with injuries. While @Connor McDavid has been back for two games, Edmonton is still without two of their top players in @Oscar Klefbom and @Kailer Yamamoto. So, the Jets will look to take advantage of this wounded Oilers group during the second of three meetings between these two teams.</p>
<h1><strong>1.) Significantly More Offense </strong></h1>
<p>When these two teams last met on Oct. 20, there were zero goals scored through 60 minutes of regulation and nothing through five minutes of three-on-three overtime as well. In addition, neither the Jets or the Oilers were able to generate at least 30 shots on net. However, those same results likely won&#8217;t occur later tonight at Rogers Place.</p>
<p>Since Jan. 1, Edmonton has averaged the fourth-most goals/game (3.45) and they&#8217;ve produced 31.0 shots on net/game which is the 21st-best among all 31 teams in the league. As for Winnipeg, their squad has generated the eighth-best goals/game average (3.31) and the ninth-best shots on net/game average (33.3) since Feb. 1. So, neither team should find it hard to create offensive production during their second meeting of the season.</p>

<p>Overall, the Jets have produced the eighth-lowest success rate (77.3%) on the penalty kill throughout the entire league. Although, their struggles when they&#8217;ve been shorthanded have dramatically changed since the calendar shifted into the new year. Since Jan. 1, Winnipeg has created a league-leading 86.2 percent success rate with their penalty-killing unit.</p>
<p>While Edmonton has produced a league-leading 28.6 percent conversion rate on the power play this season, that rate has dropped to 25 percent since Jan. 1, which is tied for fourth-best during that span. Even though the Oilers&#8217; power-play unit is still one of the best in the league, the Jets&#8217; penalty kill should be able to limit their success later tonight.</p>
<h1><strong>3.) Patrik Laine Appears To Be Ok&#8230;</strong></h1>
<p>After leaving Thursday night&#8217;s game due to a lower-body injury, @Patril Laine seems to be on track to play against the Oilers. The 21-year-old winger blocked a shot with the side of his left foot from Capitals defenseman Michal Kempny. After preventing the shot on goal, Laine was seen hobbling to Winnipeg&#8217;s bench and left straight for the dressing room. Following the game, coach Paul Maurice confirmed to the media that nothing was broken within Laine&#8217;s foot and that he would make the trip to Edmonton.</p>
<p>Since the Jets will be flying back home after this game, they likely wouldn&#8217;t have brought Laine if they didn&#8217;t think he would be healthy enough to play. But just as a precaution, the Jets decided to recall forward C.J. Suess from the @Manitoba Moose of the AHL. Over his 54 games with the Moose, Suess has scored 13 goals and 26 points. If Laine plays, he should be able to further increase his point total against the Oilers as he&#8217;s scored three goals and five points over his ten career games.</p>
