News and roster notes for the @Winnipeg Jets after the team finished up practice this morning in Winnipeg before boarding a flight to Dallas…
- The Jets claimed Nick Shore on Wednesday morning. He will wear number 21 (last worn by Quinton Howden in 2017) and will meet up with the club in Dallas. Maurice was non-committal to the idea of playing him against the Stars however.
- Both forward @Mason Appleton and defenseman @Nathan Beaulieu were at practice in regular jerseys this morning after having spent the last few practices in non-contact gear. @Gabriel Bourque also skated with the team, but he’s still a little ways away as he was still in a non-contact uni. Maurice indicated that Beaulieu may play depending on how he gets through the morning skate in Dallas.
- @Luca Sbisa sat out practice this morning as well, but will be making the trip with the team to Dallas and should be good to go for the game on Thursday. Sbisa left last night’s game with maybe the most unfortunate injury of all…
- With the likes of Beaulieu and Appleton close to returning and Bourque on the horizon, the Jets sent forward @Michael Spacek back down to the AHL Moose. He didn’t see any actual NHL action with the Jets as he was with the team on more of an emergency basis, but don’t feel too bad for the kid who at least got to spend some time living the NHL lifestyle while collecting an NHL paycheque.
- Defenseman @Dimtry Kulikov was placed on the Injury Reserve and as Paul Maurice mentioned on Tuesday, is likely out until the All-Star break in February. He was hurt in the first period of Friday night’s game against the Anaheim Ducks in which he took a hit along the boards and instantly skated off favoring his arm.
Now confirmed out for approximately 8 weeks with what was likely a shoulder dislocation with an associated labral tear Hope his rehab goes well and that he’s healthy once he returns for the second half #NHLJets
Kulikov left the game after this hit and did not return. Could be a separated shoulder or dislocated shoulder. Based on how he skated off it seems more like a dislocated shoulder We can wait for more info from @NHLJets but I would expect at least a 2 week absence #NHLJets
