Close to two weeks ago, Winnipeg Jets prospect Kevin He was dealt in an OHL blockbuster trade. Now, fellow Jets prospect Kieron Walton has received similar treatment.
The Sudbury Wolves have traded Walton and a 2026 seventh-round pick to the Peterborough Petes in exchange for defenceman Genc Ula, three third-round picks (2026, 2027, 2029), a 2029 second-round pick, and a 2027 fifth-round pick.

Full trade details:

Peterborough receives:

  • Kieron Walton (F)
  • FireBirds 2026 seventh-round pick

Sudbury receives:

  • Genc Ula (D)
  • Steelheads 2026 third-round pick
  • Bulldogs 2027 third-round pick
  • Petes 2027 fifth-round pick
  • Petes 2029 second-round pick
  • Generals 2029 third-round pick
Walton, 19, is in his fourth and final OHL season and spent his entire junior career with Sudbury prior to the deal. Through 33 games this season, he has recorded 24 goals and 28 assists for 52 points. The 6-foot-6 winger totaled 88 goals and 203 points in 210 career games with the Wolves.
He also had a brief stint with the Manitoba Moose during the 2024-25 season, appearing in four AHL games and recording one assist while posting a plus-1 rating.
Walton was selected by the Jets 187th overall in the sixth round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft and has yet to make his NHL debut.
Much like Niagara’s move with He, Sudbury decided to ship out a top forward to a contender in exchange for future assets. The deal boosts Peterborough’s chances of making a deep playoff run in pursuit of the Ross Robertson Cup, and potentially a Memorial Cup championship.
