The Race Is On: Good News Everyone!

Mar 23, 2018, 10:00 EDTUpdated: Mar 23, 2018, 01:45 EDT
Sure it wasn’t a perfect night as the Jets didn’t gain anything in the standings, nor did their magic numbers change, but a Nashville loss in regulation as well as a Vegas OT loss does help when it comes to the Jets trying a couple of the teams that remain ahead of them.
Nashville finally lost in regulation for the first time since February 17 as they got hammered by the Toronto Maple Leafs by a 5-2 score. The Preds loss keeps then within eight points of the Jets while both teams have nine games left to play each.
Happy doesn’t end there as the Kings took out the Colorado Avalanche 7-1. Sure it doesn’t help the Jets Magic Number total at all, but it keeps the Avs a healthy ten points behind the Jets for second place in the Central.
The only other game that really concerned the Jets on Thursday night was the Golden Knights falling 2-1 in overtime to the San Jose Sharks. The Knights do gain a point to go two up on the Jets in the overall western conference standings, but the Jets do have a game in hand.
