Hello and welcome to the N*if*HL! Since the real thing has been “paused” we’re running daily (well, almost daily) simulations on EA’s NHL20 video game of the NHL schedule as it would have played out through March and into April and the Stanley Cup playoffs with a particular focus on the Winnipeg Jets (this is a Jets fan site after all). You can read the full intro to our “what if” league here and feel free to share this with hockey fans all around.)
The Boston Bruins are cruising to a third ever Presidents Trophy as they cruise through California.
Thanks to back-to-back wins in California over the San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings, the B’s are eight points ahead of the @Tampa Bay Lightning both for the Atlantic Division lead as well as the N*if*HL’s overall points race.
Tampa Bay did the @Winnipeg Jets a little bit of a favor, limiting the Vancouver Canucks to a single point in their overtime win out in B.C.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Wild have snuck into a Wild Card spot thanks to a shutout of the Chicago Blackhawks, while the @Nashville Predators continue to struggle a bit.
The Florida Panthers rebounded from their loss in Winnipeg to beat the Buffalo Sabres, but the Toronto Maple Leafs kept pace themselves with a critical win over the New York Islanders. The Leafs remain two points out of a playoff spot after all was said and done on Thursday March, 19.
