The N*if*HL: Jets Stumble In Vancouver

Having gone two for two in Alberta, the Winnipeg Jets were in tough Sunday night against a @Vancouver Canucks team that had been rolling and making a strong playoff push of their own.
One of the moves that was made going into the Calgary game was head coach Paul Maurice tinkering with the lines, as @Matthew Perreault was suffering from flu-like symptoms and @Jansen Harkins took his place in the lineup. Maurice also took out the blender and mixed up the centers again as Andrew Copp moved into the second like between @Patrik Laine and @Nikolaj Ehlers, while @Cody Eakin was moved to the fourth line. The last move Maurice made was to go with @Laurent Brossoit in goal in the second night of a back to back effort.

The scoring started off almost right away with @Alexander Edler scoring for the Canucks with a bar-down snipe, but the Jets answering right back before the announcement of the Canucks goal had even finished, thanks to a beautiful three-way scoring play finished off by @Jack Roslovic.
The second line of Copp / Laine / Ehlers paid off for Paul Maurice as they trio helped get the Jets a lead about five minutes later with a fine passing display of their own that led to a second goal, and it looked like the Jets were going to hang on for lead after 20 until disaster struck and Kyle Connor scored… only against his own club after a Brossoit rebound deflected back off of KC and into the net.
The second period remained a bit of an open contest with shot plentiful from both sides, but both Brossoit and @Thatcher Demko equal to the task. Vancouver took advantage of a power-play opportunity with @Elias Pettersson scoring, but Dmitry Kulikov caught the Canucks defense napping with less than 30 seconds left in the period to make sure things remained tied going into the second intermission.
The third period was more of the same from the first two periods as Vancouver and Winnipeg traded glorious scoring chances that were either robbed by the netminders or were shot wide. Halfway through the period though,  @Jake Virtanen pass that was meant for @Adam Gaudette somehow got past Brossoit for what proved to be the game winner for the Canucks. The Jets being in their second game of a road back to back just didn’t have anything left to respond like they had the previous two times Vancouver took a lead, and ended up falling short 4-3
The loss in Vancouver snaps a five game win streak and was especially tough to take given the @Nashville Predators stealing a win against the @Minnesota Wild, and then the following night when the @Dallas Stars managed to win a wild contest against the @Arizona Coyotes in a shootout, a three point game that does the Jets very few favors and puts them three points back of third place in the Central.
