Jack Frost clearly isn’t finished with Winnipeg just yet.

As a spring blizzard approaches Manitoba, the National Hockey League announced it’s postponed Wednesday’s matchup between the Winnipeg Jets and Seattle Kraken, pushing that contest to May 1 at 1 p.m. CT.

Originally, Winnipeg’s schedule was supposed to finish on Apr. 29 at home versus the Calgary Flames. Now, they’ll conclude the regular season two days later.

According to Environment Canada, this storm is expected to bring 30-50 cm of snow and wind gusts between 70-90 km per hour. The weather isn’t expected to improve until Friday morning at the earliest.

As a result of this postponement, the Jets will be inactive until Friday, when they’ll begin a back-to-back series in Florida against the Panthers. Then, the club will travel four hours north to face the Tampa Bay Lightning the following night.

With a 35-28-11 record and 81 points this season, Winnipeg’s chances of making the playoffs are extremely slim and barring a late surge, this franchise is slated to miss the post-season for the first time since 2019-20 – when they were eliminated during the qualification round.
