#NHLJets take the 1-0 lead. Laine may have dented the net with that shot. Scheifele was in the right place at the right time for the rebound!

JNR: Jets Penalty Kill Struggles In 4-2 Loss To Coyotes

It wasn’t quite as bad as it was on Sunday, but the Jets still struggled with a poor penalty kill and bad defensive play as for the first time since the Atlanta Thrashers moved north to Winnipeg, the Arizona Coyotes – the OG Jets – won in Winnipeg 4-2.
First Period
Jets start slow, unable to get a shot on goal until the Coyotes take a penalty and the Jets get a couple of chances six minutes into the game. Sure enough even with the Coyotes being the better team through the first six minutes of the game, the Jets score first on that first power play.
Winnipeg gets back into the game somewhat from there, but a very late goal by the Coyotes evens things up as the Jets get caught not skating to the end of the period.
Here's the Coyotes first goal... Conor Garland gets credit for it.
Second Period
One theme that developed as the game went along was the Jets having a very hard time dealing with the much faster Coyotes forechecking which caused multiple turnovers and eventually forced the Jets into taking some bad penalties that resulted in a pair of power play goals in the first ten minutes of play of the second period.
Josh Morrissey scores. Sadly, it's on his own net by mistake. 2-1 Coyotes.
Coyotes goal. The Jets had a really good look at this one because they weren't busy doing anything else on the PK.
The Coyotes added a third goal in the period and this one felt all but done after 40 minutes of play.
It just seems like a bad idea to let teams skate in and take uncontested shots like this, but what do I know? I'm just a humble tweeter. Coyotes fourth goal...
The shots in the second period were actually fairly even with the Coyotes having a 15-14 edge, but to be fair a lot of that came after the Coyotes got up to multi-goal lead and started to self-defend a little more.
Third Period
The Jets out-shot the Coyotes 16-7 but again it was a lot more due to score effects with the Coyotes nursing a three goal lead.

Winnipeg does get within two goals as they scored a second power-play goal thanks to a filthy backhanded goal from @Kyle Connor
Do we have some life in this team? Kyle Connor with an absolute crazy backhander to get the Jets within 2.
But that was as good as it got for the Jets on this night.
TL;DR Why The Jets Lost
The penalty kill continues to be really bad, secondary scoring is almost non existent and the overall team defense is beyond awful.
JetsNation’s Top Gun
Not that there was much to pick from, but Adam Lowry was super-active on the ice, hitting anything that moved even after he left the game for a brief time in the first after taking a bad hit that might have gotten him a call to concussion protocol. His line with @Mathieu Perreault and @Jack Roslovic actually had some pretty good possession numbers if not actual offense.
It's kind of amazing how much more active Lowry looks with different linemates... Just an observation.
