Tonight, the Winnipeg Jets and Vancouver Canucks will be fishing for two points in the standings. Paul Maurice hopes that casting out the team’s top line of Scheifele, Wheeler and Ehlers will bait Vancouver into taking some penalties. If Winnipeg can land some power play goals, they will shore up a win but if the team comes out flat like they did in the first two games of the season, Maurice may have to give the team a sturgeon talking to.

Recently for the Jets…
They won a game!
Nobody outside of the Jets dressing room likely expected the team to go into Edmonton and pull off a win, but even with a less than ideal first period (which they still ended up leading 2-0) they outplayed the Oilers and picked up their first win of the season thanks in large part to the play of the top line of Blake Wheeler, Mark Scheifele and Nik Ehlers who earned his second career hat trick.
Recently for the Canucks…
They lost a tough fought game against Ottawa on Tuesday night by not being nearly good enough in the extra skills competition. Jacob Markstrom helped bail the Canucks out in that game as they gave up 42 shots in the game against a Sens team that was missing it’s top defenseman.
Recently between the two teams…
Last season the Jets went 2 and 1 against the Canucks, splitting the first two meetings in Vancouver before picking up a win in the third meeting in Winnipeg. For what it’s worth, Connor Hellebuyck played in that lone loss to the Canucks (a 4-1 decision) while Michael Hutchinso backstopped the jets in their two wins. The Jets have won 6 of the last 7 meetings and earned at least a point in the standings in 8 of the last 10 games played dating back to March 2014
