Jets Notebook

• The Jets are coming off a 5-1 win that saw a flurry of goals in the third period. While there are still some questions on the defence, it seems that the offence picked up right where they left off from last season. The Jets look to continue starting the season off on the right foot tonight.
• Everyone knows the kind of work Patrik Laine has done against the Stars: 14 goals and four assists in nine games, but did you know that Mark Scheifele has been as lethal against the Stars in that same time period? Scheifele has 11 goals and eight assists in his last nine against Dallas.
• More numbers against the Stars: Blake Wheeler has 32 points (eight goals, 24 assists) in 32 career games against Dallas. Nik Ehlers rounds out the “point or more per game against Dallas club with 15 (two goals, 13 assists) in 14 career games. Connor Hellebuyck is 6-1-1 with a .938 save percentage.
• The Jets had a clean regular season sweep against the Stars in 2017-18 and overall have won nine of their last 10 meetings.

Stars Notebook

• The Stars are coming off a 3-0 win against Arizona, in which they also had a flurry of goals, this time in the 2nd period. Ben Bishop seems dialed in and focused on winning games as he got the 30 save shutout. Recently acquired Connor Carrick assisted on two of the three goals against Arizona.
• Jim Montgomery picked up his first NHL win as a head coach in that game. After years of success in the NCAA with Denver and Maine.
• For as notable as Laine’s work against the Stars has been, Tyler Seguin has almost been as equally lethal against the Jets franchise.  He has 18 goals and 33 points in 32 career games against Atlanta/Winnipeg.
