JNGD.S8.G57 Flight Plan: Jets Get To Scout Even More Potential Future Teammates Against The Rangers

It was a bit of a road trip to forget for the Jets who lost games in Montreal and Ottawa before salvaging a win in Buffalo and through it all they still remained in first place with a couple of games in hand over the Nashville Predators. Now the Jets hope to put some distance into their slight division lead with a win against a New York Rangers squad that could be pushed even more into seller mode with another loss tonight.

Rangers Player To Watch

#13 – Kevin Hayes – Center

If the Jets miss out on landing a big name top six forward, a player like Kevin Hayes could possibly be a cheaper “plan B” for the club. He’s a solid play driver who has been mostly on the Rangers second line this season as a center, but can also play a pretty solid right wing if needed. He had a breakout season goal scoring wise last year with 25 goals and was a subject of trade rumors this time last season, but the extra year at $5.175 million likely caused some teams to hesitate. This time around with his contract expiring at the end of the season, he’s almost certain to be moved

Last Rangers Game

It was an all out offensive assault by the Toronto Maple Leafs, but Rangers backup goalie Alexandar Georgiev on his 22nd birthday made 55 saves while his Leafs counterpart Garret Sparks wasn’t as sharp as the blueshirts skated away with a fortunate 4-1 win over Toronto on Sunday night.

Jets Player To Watch

#85 – Mathieu Perreault – Center

Patrik Laine isn’t the only one struggling right now. Mathieu Perreault has just a goal and an assist in his last ten games played and only saw the ice for a total of 9:15 during Sunday’s win in Buffalo. While he still has the ability to drive a line and help produce offense, it’s still a little bit of a concern that he’s gone three straight games without registering a shot on goal.

Last Jets Game

The Jets stopped their losing streak at three games with a pretty good effort on the road in Buffalo. Connor Hellebuyck was fantastic in keeping the Jets in the game and Blake Wheeler scored the game winning goal late off a super slick pass from Josh Morrissey.
