JNGD.S8.G14 Flight Plan: Jets And Panthers Prepare For A Second Act In Finland
alt

What is Patrik Laine going to do for an encore performance?
That’s the biggest question pretty much everyone has going into the second game of Florida and Winnipeg’s two game Finland adventure. Aleksander Barkov had an assist early on in the game, but it was Laine’s hat trick that made all the headlines as he helped pace the Jets to a big 4-2.
Nyt se on pelinumero kaksi!

Jets Notebook

  • A couple of lineup changes today as it seems as though Paul Maurice wants to get everyone who made the trip to Finland to get into a game. Defenseman Joe Morrow is in for Kulikov. Forward Nic Petan is in and makes his season debut for the Jets as he replaces Jack Roslovic.
  • The Jets have scored a power play goal in nine consecutive games, going 11-for-31 (35.5%) which is now a franchise record for most consecutive games with a power play goal. Patrik Laine of course leads the team and is tied for the NHL lead with five power play goals.
  • Laine is also tied for the NHL lead in “go ahead goals” with five.
  • Blake Wheeler has assisted on all six of Laine’s goals this season. His point streak is also up to seven games.
  • Mark Scheifele has a six game point streak with four goals and five assists in that span.
Fun little stat pointed out by ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski. Turns out Dustin Byfuglien holds a unique NHL record.

Panthers Notebook

  • Barkov along with Evgenii Dadonov both have seven game point streaks which is only topped by Mike Hoffman who has an eight game point streak.
  • Roberto Lunongo will make his return from injury that was suffered on opening night against the Lightning.
  • While the Panthers haven’t scored much this season, they have averaged 35.7 shots per game
