What a beauty Niku is! Look at that flow! #NHLJets

TALKING POINTS
- Your Jets goal scorers tonight were all under the age of 22. Ehlers (22), Connor, Roslovic and Niku (21) and Laine (19) and all of them are on their Entry Level Contracts. The future is too damn bright.
- Probably best not to try and take too much away from this game as it was without a bunch of regulars for the Jets, but after a strong first period, the team defense was suspect for yet another night. The one thing that was very un-Jets like in this game was how much time and space the Habs were given in the slot area in front of Mason. Similar to the game in Ottawat, the Jets are not sticking to their plan of keeping shots to the outside and limiting second chances with rebounds and turnovers in front of their own net.
- Sami Niku had a pretty good first NHL night in Montreal, he did get checked off the puck a couple of times, but made nice, calm outlet passes to exit the defensive zone a few times. Of course that first NHL goal was also a thing of beauty. He probably won’t be a regular on the playoff roster, but if injuries do happen, I think hes given Paul Maurice yet another depth option.
- Steve Mason was good for the most part making 36 saves, but a couple of goals – especially that fourth goal would have been timely stops. Overall a good night for him to get back into game action, but it also was proof that Connor Hellebuyck is the unquestionable starter.
- Lest you think I am being too critical, let’s enjoy the fact that the Jets rested so many of their top players and still managed to pull out a win. If anything, they could have been up 5 or 6 to 0 after the first period were it not for Carey Price and a few bad breaks and then the game is completely different. A strong effort all around for the Jets.
