JNGD.62 Flight Plan: Deep In The Heart Of Texas

Feb 24, 2018, 12:30 ESTUpdated: Feb 24, 2018, 12:18 EST
Since their move to Winnipeg, the Jets are 13-8-1 against the Dallas Stars which isn’t too shabby, but when you consider the last couple of seasons, the Jets have absolutely owned the Stars with six straight wins going back to October of 2016.
They hope to continue that trend tonight.

Recently for the Jets…
Winners of four of their last five games and coming off a shutout last night against the St. Louis Blues, the Jets have to be feeling pretty good about their latest run. The good vibes should hopefully carry them through this current three game set against Central division rivals and teams that are all in the mix for one of the three division playoff spots. Last night’s win against the Blues helped get the Jets get their overall record against Central division rivals to 10-6-2.
Recently for the Stars…
The Stars shut out the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday which salvaged a three game road swing through California where they went 1-2-0 after losses in San Jose and Anaheim. Despite that, Dallas has been clipping along nicely as they’ve made a push to get back into a playoff race in the Central division. They are 7-3-0 in their last ten, hold down the first wild card playoff spot and are one point behind the Minnesota Wild for the final Central division playoff spot. The Stars now are looking to use this five game home stand that starts tonight as a chance to put together a win streak.
Recently between both teams…
Tonight is the third of four meetings between the Jets and Stars and lately it’s a series that Winnipeg has dominated. The Jets won the first two games this season – both back in November – with a 5-2 win in Winnipeg and then a 4-1 win in Dallas four days later. Dating back to the 2016-17 season, the Jets have won the last six contests the teams have had and seven of the last eight. Patrick Laine has led the way as he’s made the Stars one of his favorite teams to light up with 10 goals and 14 points in seven games played against Dallas.

Gameday Prediction
Last night was more of a return to “Jets-like” hockey than we’ve seen over the last few games. The offense was still there but the defense – especially attention to detail on the penalty kill – was back in form and frustrated the Blues the entire night. Here is hoping for more of the same tonight as the Jets win a tight one 4-3.
