Three wins in a row! Last season, the Jets didn’t pull off such a feat until late January, so to get it done this early has to be a little pressure off the club.
It wasn’t the prettiest of wins. The Jets were out-shot 29-21 and puck possession was in the Canes favor all night, but they also don’t have a Nik Ehlers who is as hot as any NHLer right now with his fifth goal in the span of the last three games.
They also benefited from fine, steady goaltending of Connor Hellebuyck who has been in the net for all three of the Jets wins. He made 28 saves and outplayed an equally good Scott Darling who was minding the Carolina net.
The game also saw a trio of injuries for the Jets as Tyler Myers was banged up in the second period but stayed in the game. Mathieu Perreault and Dmitry Kulikov were not as fortunate as they both left with lower body injuries (Perreault taking a puck off his foot and Kulikov’s leg was caught in an awkward hit along the boards)
