HOW DID THEY CORSI?

Matchups are limited to 5-on-5 situations. Tile size is scaled by Time On Ice and colour is scaled by adjusted Expected Goals differential. Blue represents a home team advantage and red represents a road team advantage.

PLAYERS OF THE GAME

For Winnipeg – Bryan Little: Great to see Litts with a three point night picking up a pair of goals and an assist. Honorable mention to Joel Armia as well who also picked up a pair of goals.
For San Jose – Timo Meier: Was buzzing all around the ice and was rewarded with a goal that tied things up late in the third period to force overtime.

TALKING POINTS

  • The Jets were facing a back up goalie in Aaron Dell and did the right thing to start the game off and that was drive to the net, create a bunch of traffic in front of him and make life difficult. Four of the Jets five goals tonight were off of deflections.
  • The second period collapse was a bit concerning of course. The Sharks picked up the physical play and their intensity and I feel that caught the Jets off guard a bit. Once things were tied and they got to the second intermission, the Jets seemed to recompose themselves, but they let off the gas pedal a bit once they got up 3-0 when in reality they should have stomped on it harder.
  • Blake Wheeler had a tough game and was undisciplined. Dustin Byfuglien also had a tough game and nearly set his team back big time after taking a roughing penalty after that Meier goal. Wheels bounced back with some nice penalty killing to cover up for Buff and Buff as you see above had an amazing rush around the Sharks net to create a scoring chance for Little. It’s not about how you start, it’s about how you finish.
  • Jacob Trouba is the Jets best defensemen. Period. End of statement.
  • Dmitry Kulikov left in the first due to that hit from behind by Hertl, We’ll have to wait to see what Kulikov’sstatus is, but probably expect a Tucker Poolman call up in the morning.
  • Jack Roslovic is so overdue for a first NHL, it’s silly. Kid has been great and done everything including beating goalies clean, just not finding twine.

NEXT FLIGHT

The Jets take on the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday night and then get to enjoy some more time off for the All-Star break.
