It’s kind of cliche to say “the Jets deserved better” but they kind of did with the effort they had against the Colorado Avalanche. As it was, they had to scratch and claw to at least get a single point with a pair of goals in the third period to tie, but ultimately lose to the Avs in OT.
The Jets out-shot the Avs 44-26 and even snapped the Avalanche’s home penalty kill streak of 35 straight kills. Yes Colorado had some great chances, but Connor Hellebuyck made a series of outstanding saves to keep his team within striking distance.
With the goalie pulled, a Jets dump in to the Avs zone caused all kinds of havoc which Blake Wheeler capitalized on for the game tying goal.
It’s in overtime where the questionable decisions were made. Dustin Byfuglien had what many would say was too much time spent in a 3 on 3 situation – especially considering his return from injury in the thin Colorado air. It was Buff who was stripped of the puck that led to a breakaway that Hellebuyck got a piece of, but not all of.
As always, feel free to let us know what you thought of tonight’s game in the comments below and on our Twitter feed! What did you think of Dustin Byfuglien’s return? Can the Jets ever snap out of their OT losing streak?

PLAYERS OF THE GAME
For Winnipeg: Blake Wheeler – Two goals for the captain with nine shots on goal… Honorable mention to Connor Hellebuyck. Between the pair of them, they willed the Jets to at least one point in the standings.
For Colorado: Nathan MacKinnon – A goal and and assist and was buzzing all around the Jets net.
