For two periods, it felt a bit like the Winnipeg Jets toyed with their opponent tonight, the Vegas Golden Knights, but an outburst of goals in the third period helped the Jets to a 7-4 over the expansion Knights and helped the club leap-frog past the St. Louis Blues in the standings and into sole possession of first place in the Western Conference.
On December 1st.
26 games into the regular season, almost a full two months into the season, the Winnipeg Jets lead the NHL’s Western Conference. Not only that, but they also share top spot in the entire league with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Even the biggest of Jets dreamers couldn’t have possibly seen this coming.
Still lots of hockey left to be played, but for now, spend the night enjoying a win and take a moment to just stare at the current NHL standings… I’ve posted them here to help you.
Is hockey not fun? Do you #BelieveInTheJets yet?

HOW DID THEY CORSI?

Matchups are limited to 5-on-5 situations. Tile size is scaled by Time On Ice and colour is scaled by adjusted Expected Goals differential. Blue represents a home team advantage and red represents a road team advantage.
PLAYERS OF THE GAME
For Vegas: Colin Miller – One goal, one assist for the veteran defenseman who was active all night and didn’t hesitate to jump into offensive plays.
For Winnipeg: Patrik Laine – One goal, two assists and this was again after he pretty much called himself out for poor play after being held pointless the last three games he played in.
NEXT FLIGHT
It’s Hometown Hockey on Sunday night when the Jets host the Ottawa Senators.
