JNGD 15 Instant Recap: Leaving Las Vegas With A Loss

They say “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” but unfortunately this loss will stick with the Jets for at least the next 24 hours as they went into tonight’s game feeling good, but came out flat and ended up on the losing end of a 5-2 loss against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Simply put, the Jets were bad in this game. No doubt give the Golden Knights some credit as they play a fast game that forces opposing teams to make mistakes but it shouldn’t have been anything more than what a regular Jets club wouldn’t have been able to handle.
That said, the Jets we saw tonight were sluggish and handled the puck like a live grenade at the best of times. Connor Hellebuyck finally had an off night managing only 16 saves on 21 shots faced – the first two goals against are likely ones he should not be giving up at all. Overall though he lacked any help from his defense or the forwards who had all kinds of issues with zone entries.
The Jets thankfully get to do it all over again Saturday night in Arizona as they’ll play the Coyotes and hopefully put this mess behind them.
As always share your thoughts on which players you liked (Patrik Laine was taking shots every chance he had to make them and Brandon Tanev picked up a helper and was being a pretty effective pest) and which players you didn’t like (take your pick.. The top line wasn’t good, Byfuglien and Kulikov were making questionable plays all over the place). Sound off in the comments below!

Ok @GoldenKnights we'll tip our hats on this one! What a save!
Vegas restores their two goal lead as Karlsson is all alone to deposit a rebound. 3-1 Knights.
#NHLJets get back within one. Laine only needs three seconds of power play time to HAMMER this one home! The 4th game in a row he has a goal. 3-2 game.
4th Vegas goal.. Kulikov with a sweet pass to James Neal! Oh wait, Neal plays for the other guys.. Whoops. 4-2 Knights.
5th Knights goal.. Great breakout pass and Karlsson makes no mistake on the breakaway. 5-2 Knights.
Steve Mason in the game and making an alert sweet stop.
This sequence pretty much sums up the night for the #NHLJets..
