The Winnipeg Jets ambushed the Dallas Stars within a five minute stretch in the first period to race out to a 3-0 lead and thanks to a Mark Scheifele hat trick didn’t look back from there as they defeat Dallas and take sole possession of second place in the Central Division thanks to a 5-2 win.
The game was peppered with plenty of bitterness and chippy hockey as the Jets saw their first two on-ice scraps of the season and has turned Stars goalie Ben Bishop into the villain-of-the-moment for his antics throughout the game which included a blocker based sucker punch of Brendan Lemieux.
Despite the tomfoolery on the ice, the Jets didn’t give up a single power play to the Stars. The Jets also had a goal removed due to a rather inexplicable case of goaltender interference and on top of that had a chance to ice the game away with five minutes left in the third when Kyle Connor was awarded a penalty shot, but was unable to cash in.
