JNFFT: Teemu Selanne vs Randy Carlyle

Sep 8, 2018, 12:25 EDT
Randy Carlyle survived a tough “battle of the future head coaches” match against Paul MacLean in the first round of our Fan favorite Tournament, but no amount of coaching may be able to get him past his next opponent who remains the odds on favorite to win the entire tournament.
RANDY CARLYLE
vs
TEEMU SELANNE
Randy spent eight years with the original Jets, picking up multiple all-star appearances and for most of those years was an absolute rock on the blue line in the 80’s and early 90’s. It certainly didn’t hurt his cause that after his playing career was over, he remained in Winnipeg as a coach, first with the Jets before their departure south, and then with the Manitoba Moose of the IHL for a number of years.
It was his familiarity to Winnipeg hockey fans that helped get him into the second round in one of the closer battles we had.
Safe to say though that he’s up against a juggernaut in the second round as he goes head to head with Teemu Selanne who if you don’t remember only did things like this during his brief time in Winnipeg:
Kris King – who himself was a fairly popular guy in The Peg – didn’t stand a chance against him in the first round.
One guy punched faces. The other punched home goals. Who ya got in the next #NHLJets Fan Favorite match?
Let’s see if Randy can fare a slight bit better…
TIME TO VOTE!
Maybe enough people will feel sorry for Randy and send him some votes? Will it be enough to put a dent in the inevitable victory that Teemu will surely post? We’re about to find out…
Let's see how lopsided this can be. The next match in the Jets Nation Fan Favorite Tournament is...
