It’s the start of a back-to-back set for the Winnipeg Jets as they continue their road trip through the American south west with a stop in San Jose to face a Sharks club that has also seen a bit of a rocky start to their 2019-20 season.

Last Sharks Game

Their last game of a road trip out east wasn’t a very kind one as the @Boston Bruins dominated early in puck possession and the power play and ended up coasting to a 5-1 win over the Sharks.

Fun Sharks Facts…

  • @Patrick Marleau became the seventh player in NHL history to appear in 1,500 career NHL games with one NHL franchise on 10/25 at Toronto.
  • Entering this season, @Joe Thornton ranked 12th on the all-time games played list, eighth on the all-time assist list and 14th on the all-time points list. Some upcoming milestones for Jumbo include 10 assists from A. Oates (1,079) for seventh on the all-time assist list, 18 points from 1,500 NHL points and 21 games from 1,600 NHL games.
  • Brent Burns goal in the game against Boston pushed his current point streak to four games (1g, 4a).
  • The Sharks currently own the best penalty kill unit in the NHL, killing off 90.4% of their disadvantages. San Jose is the only team in the NHL over 90% this season, and hold a perfect 15-15 kill rate at home.

What They’re Saying…

Kane is recognized all throughout the NHL as being someone who won’t back down from a fight. Anyone who is willing to drop the mitts with someone like @Zdeno Chara of the Boston Bruins is certainly worthy of respect, and I am by no means saying he needs to tone down his physicality on the ice. He does, however, need to play smart with how he uses his body and avoid any more suspensions this season.
There have been rumblings about a possible trade from the blueline to shore up the offensive danger on the wing. Upon the return of @Radim Simek, the Sharks will have a glut of left-handed defensemen on the NHL roster. Wilson may be able to move one of them for forward help, and if he could get any value for @Marc-Edouard Vlasic’s contract at this point in his career, it would qualify as yet another DW miracle.

Last Jets Game

Their first game of a road trip out west wasn’t a very kind one as a poor second period once again sunk the Winnipeg Jets who out-shot (but not really) the @Anaheim Ducks but couldn’t out-score them in a 7-4 loss.

Fun Jets Facts…

  • The Jets are eighth in the NHL with an average of 33.7 shots per game.
  • Bryan Little has a point in three consecutive games played and has two goals and two assists over those three games.
  • Josh Morrissey is ninth in the NHL with an average of 24:57 TOI per game. He’s played at least 24 minutes in four consecutive games.
  • Winnipeg is 10-19-3 all-time against San Jose. The Jets do however have points in four of their past five games (3-1-1) against the Sharks after losing the previous four meetings.

What We’re Saying…

However, the Jets should be able to turn all those missed shooting attempts into high percentage scoring chances in this game against the Sharks. Coming into this game, the Sharks have blocked the sixth-fewest number of shots (155) in the entire league. So, that means the Jets should be posied for a high-scoring affair in San Jose tonight.
