JN Flight Plan: Jets Seeking For Third Straight Win In Chicago
alt
Thomas Hall
Oct 12, 2019, 15:30 EDTUpdated: Oct 12, 2019, 15:25 EDT
After not being able to keep pucks out of their own net to start the season, the Jets have actually been able to prevent opposing teams from scoring three goals or more over their last two games. Coming into this game, the Jets currently own a +6 goal differential over their last two games against Pittsburgh and Minnesota. In order for the Jets to win their third straight game, they’ll need to keep this Blackhawks team winless to start the 2019-20 season.

Last Blackhawks Game

Despite receiving five points of production from their second line, the Blackhawks were unable to slow down the San Jose Sharks’ offense. After allowing an early third-period goal from @Barclay Goodrow, the Blackhawks were unable to respond and fell 5-4 in their home opener.

Fun Blackhawks Facts…

  • Since the Blackhawks’ season began in Prague, Czech Republic they’re currently the only Western Conference team to have played in just two games this season.
  • MILESTONE WATCH: Defenseman @Ducan Keith enters this game needing just two goals to reach 100 career goals.

What They’re Saying…

The Blackhawks defensive performance against the Sharks on Thursday did little to quell worries about Chicago’s prowess in its own end of the ice. But a boost could be available with the season debut of @Calvin de Haan, who’ll take the place of Slater Koekkoek.
In net, @Robin Lehner will also make his season debut, boasting a career record of 4-0 against the Jets, with a 2.76 goals-against average and .922 save percentage – SecondCityHockey.com
“(We’ve) played hard, but we need to be a little bit smarter with the puck and without the puck. It’s that old thing: Work hard but work smart. It’s something that we’re just going to have to try to do better going forward.”
“Obviously, there’s things in our team game that we can do better,” Blackhawk defenseman @Duncan Keith on his team’s early-season struggles – ABC7Chicago.com

Last Jets Game

The Jets’ top line exploded for a total of eight points in their 5-2 victory against the Wild on Thursday night. In doing so, the Jets are now 3-5 during their eight home openers since returning to Winnipeg.

Fun Jets Facts…

  • The Jets currently own an all-time record of 10-8-0 at the United Center.
  • Coming into this game, the Jets have recorded 2.83 goals/game in 40 games against the Blackhawks, which is the 3rd-highest rate against their division rivals.
  • MILESTONE WATCH: @Mathieu Perreault remains just two points shy of reaching 200 for his career as a member of the Jets.

What We’re Saying…

After taking a couple of games to settle into the season, @Patrik Laine has been on fire in the last two games played with a total of seven points (two goals, five assists, three of those being primary) and displayed a physical bordering on outright mean side of his game on Thursday night with seven hits and a couple of post-whistle scrums which he was in the middle of.
