Last Knights Game
Vegas thought they were on their way to a victory up by two halfway through the third period, but the Montreal Canadiens stormed back with two goals late to tie it and then a Max Domi game winner 26 seconds into overtime to hand the Knights a 5-4 loss.
Fun Knights Facts…
- The Golden Knights captured their 100th victory as a franchise with a 3-0 win over the @Pittsburgh Penguins, giving Vegas a cumulative record of 100-59-14. It took the organization 173 regular-season games to reach the century mark as they became the fourth franchise in NHL history to achieve the feat in less than 200 games.
- All of the Vegas Golden Knights victories this season have come when they have held their opponents to no more than three goals. Vegas is 8-0-0 when allowing three or fewer goals this season.
- Mark Stone turned in back-to-back-to-back multi-point games to start the 2019-20 season (Oct. 2-8). It was the first time in his career that he recorded multiple points in three straight games to start a season & only the fourth time in his career he has had at least two points in three consecutive games.
What They’re Saying…
There are two different likely lineup options for the Golden Knights defense heading into this game. Either Holden and Merrill stick together and Theodore swaps sides to play with Engelland, or they return to the opening day pairs which had Merrill and Theodore together and Holden with Engelland.Either way, the top pair minutes will now be handed to Schmidt as opposed to Theodore. That’s what Gallant is talking about when he says “puts everybody where they belong,” and the result of that should be a more noticeable impact on the game for Theodore.
Return Of Schmidt Should Mean Return Of Theodore’s Offense – SinBin Vegas
To say this was a good game all the way around for Vegas wouldn’t be a lie, either. The team had control at 5-on-5 until the third period, with significant leads in all possession categories through the first 40 minutes. The last period wasn’t as good, however, and that’s what allowed Montreal to get back in the contest.

Fun Jets Facts…
- The Jets have 10 back-to-back sets this season, the third of which is tonight against Vegas…The Jets are 1-1-0 when playing their second game in as many nights this season.
- Five of Winnipeg’s seven wins have been by one goal this season, including their past four victories.
- The 53 shots Winnipeg allowed last night marked the 10th time in franchise history the Jets have allowed 50 shots or more in a game and second time in the calendar year (53 – Feb. 7/19 at MTL). The Jets franchise is 7-1-2 when allowing 50 shots or more in a game.
- Nikolaj Ehlers tallied his fifth goal in his past six games when he scored the game-winning goal with 1:24 left in the third period last night. Six of his seven goals this season have either tied the game or put the Jets ahead.
What We’re Saying…
The one constant this season has been how dynamic Nikolaj Ehlers is. With a goal last night, he continues to build on his team leading goal totals as he’s already scored seven on the year. He’s racked up another seven assists to go along with those goals and is tied for the team lead in points with Scheifele.
