Last Flyers Game
Kevin Hayes scored with 1:09 left in overtime to complete a comeback from a 3-1 deficit and give the Flyers a 4-3 victory.
Fun Flyers Facts…
- The Flyers held an overall record of 29-16-2 against the original Winnipeg Jets from the time the Jets joined the NHL in 1978-79 until their departure from Winnipeg after the 1995-96 season. Their last game against the Jets was a 4-1 loss in Winnipeg on March 22, 1996, while Winnipeg’s last trip to Philadelphia was a 3-0 Flyers win on March 16, 1996.
- The Flyers are 12-5-2 in their last 19 games dating back to January 7, which is tied with the New York Rangers for the third-most points in the league in that timespan at 26. Their 68 goals in that span are second-most in the league behind Tampa Bay’s 70.
- Philly is 32-0-3 this season when they are tied or leading after two periods of play. They are 2-20-4 when trailing after two periods.
What They’re Saying…
The problem is that there hasn’t been any success to speak of for going on a decade. And so the Flyers find themselves buried in the Philly sports basement, a mere curiosity to be dusted off and viewed from time to time, only to be relegated to the darkness once more. That time is coming to an end.Look no further than the Flyers’ home-and-home sweep of the Columbus Blue Jackets this week, a pair of pivotal performances with possible postseason potential.

Last Jets Game
A sluggish start was quickly turned around by a pair of power play goals from Mark Scheifele who completed his power play hat trick in the third period of a 4-1 Jets win over Ottawa
Fun Jets Facts…
- The Jets have won three games in a row for the fifth time this season, which matches their longest winning streak of the campaign.
- The Jets are a perfect nine-for-nine on the penalty kill in their past four games and 15-for-16 (93.8%) in their past seven games. Winnipeg is third in the NHL in penalty kill percentage in February at 91.3%.
- The Jets have 10 back-to-back sets this season, the ninth of which is this weekend. The Jets are 5-3-0 in the first and 4-4-0 in the second game of back-to-backs this season.
What We’re Saying…
While it was the third line who did most of the scoring a few games ago, the top six has found their mojo with the new line combinations. Scheifele had four points against the Senators while Laine and Connor chipped in two points each. Wheeler, Copp, and Ehlers all had one point as the entire top six managed to find the scoresheet. Scheifele’s hat-trick came at just the right time after he hadn’t been able to find the back of the net in the last month. Hopefully those woes are behind him as the Jets will need him to be at his best down the stretch.
