JGD Preseason #7: Jets Close Out Preseason In Calgary

Oct 3, 2015, 12:57 EDTUpdated: Invalid DateTime
It’s one last chance to make it to the dance for rookies Nic Petan, Nik Ehlers, Andrew Copp and Thomas Raffl, a last chance for Flames rookies such Ryan Wilson to leave an impression with their coaches and a chance for veterans of both teams to gear up before the season starts next week.
Unlike Thursday’s contest, the Flames will be bringing a lineup that looks more like their regular NHL lineup and with the chippiness of the third period it could be a more intense affair in the Saddledome tonight.
The preseason hasn’t been without it’s injury issues either for both teams.
For the Jets, Andrew Ladd left the game on Thursday in the third period and will sit this game out tonight as the coaching staff is taking all precautions to make sure he’s healthy for opening night on Thursday. Joe Colborne for the Flames is also out for a couple of weeks as he took a Ladd shot off the thumb in the second period of the game.
Tonight will also be the Jets’ first chance to have a look at Michael Frolik in enemy garb. Taters has been stellar for the Flames as he has two goals and four points in three games played so far.

PREDICTIONS
Game Day Prediction: Flames squeak out a 4-3 win.
Obvious Prediction: The rookies on both sides will be competing hard to prove their regular season worth, the veterans on the other hand will be hoping to just remain healthy and not suffer a meaningless preseason injury in the final game.
Not So Obvious Prediction: Michael Frolik in the third period “accidently” scores on his own team’s net and then in a move that would make Vince McMahon proud, rips off his Flames jersey to reveal a Jets jersey underneath.. IT WAS ALL A RUSE!!
