Having gotten over the seemingly mountainesque task that was winning three games in a row, the Jets now look to win four in a row in Denver against the woeful Colorado Avalanche.
Somewhere Admiral Ackbar is yelling something about a trap… Whatever that means.

WINNIPEG JETS

25-25-4 / 5th in Central
As mentioned before, thank goodness the offense is really clicking – especially the top two lines – because it has been covering up some of the deficiencies that have plagued both the defense and goaltending, but we already know that. Bryan Little comes into today’s game with a seven game points streak.
What you might not have realized is that the Jets have a nine game winning streak against Central division opponents and it is what has kept them in the playoff race thus far.
Drew Stafford is slated to be back in the lineup today for the Jets which could push Thorburn out of the lineup.
Ondrej Pavelec gets yet another start as Paul Maurice rides the hot hand and comes into this game with a 4-2-0 record and a .903 save percentage since the call up from the Moose, but in this case this may actually work out well as Pavs has a 6-1-3 career record against the Avs with a .933 save percentage.

COLORADO AVALANCHE

13-33-2 / 7th in Central
The Avalanche are bad and they should (and probably do) feel bad. Being winless in your last nine games.
They are coming off a poor game against Los Angeles where rookie Spencer Martin gave up five goals against the Kings. It was the third time in the span of the last five games the ‘Lanches have given up five goals which isn’t surprising when you take a look at the defensive unit they have. The Avs will debut Mark Barberio today however after picking him up from the waiver wire on Thursday.
Assume Calvin Pickard will get the start as Colorado will continue to plug on without regular starter Semyon Varlemov who is likely out for the season with groin issues. Pickard is 7-14-1 this season with a .903 save percentage.
Offensively things haven’t been much better for Colorado. They’ve been outscored 36-15 during their nine game slide and have been shutout a total of eight times this season. Matt Duchene and Nate MacKinnon continue to be lone bright spots for Colorado as trade rumors swirl around both.
