JGD 26: McDavid and Co come to town

Dec 1, 2016, 15:06 ESTUpdated: Invalid DateTime
McDavid is back! McDavid is back!
Duck and cover, the NHL’s leading scorer is back in town. The Jets will face-off against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers tonight at the MTS Centre. This marks the first meeting between the two teams since the Oilers domination of the Jets at this years Heritage Classic.
Puck drop is slated for 7pm CT and you can catch the game on TSN3 or as always you can give it a listen on TSN 1290.
Jets

- Mathieu Perreault is back in action and he’ll take over Kyle Connor’s spot on the fourth line. Yes, you read that last sentence correctly. It appears Connor will be healthy scratched for the second time of the season and it’s only a matter of time before he is sent to the Moose for further development.
- It’s surely a frustrating experience for Connor watching his role with the team decline and it only adds salt to the wound seeing Chris Thorburn play instead of Connor.
- Since coming back from injury, Drew Stafford looks much more involved in the offensive zone than he was at the start of the year. He’s recorded two points in his last four games.
- The Jets third line tonight is an interesting one to watch. Once all the Jets current injuries are healed, the line of Marko Dano Adam Lowry and Brandon Tanev could turn out to be the teams fourth line. That’s a pretty exciting and young fourth line to have.

- Toby Enstrom is back in the lineup after a brief leave of absence and the Jets top-four is looking pretty spiffy.
- If Jacob Trouba continues playing the way he has over the last little, the Jets backend is going to look pretty golden when Tyler Myers returns.
- Hey look, the Jets bottom pairing isn’t a total disaster.

- It’s Connors crease now. Connor Hellebuyck is coming off two solid performances against Nashville and New Jersey and it appears without doubt Hellebuyck is the teams starting goaltender from here on out.
Oilers

- Jesse Puljujarvi appears to be a healthy scratch for tonight’s game. The 18 year-old forward could be due for a trip to Bakersfield for some fine tuning. The Oilers don’t need to rely on Puljujarvi right now and they could afford to let him get some ice-time down in California.
- The Oilers have the most road points in the league with 16 along with the leagues most road wins, seven.
