Jets Sign Brett Festerling

According to Ken Wiebe, the Winnipeg Jets have signed RFA depth defender Brett Festerling to a one-year, two-way contract. A 25-year old with 83 NHL games under his belt, Festerling will likely play in the AHL this season absent some injuries on the back-end.
The most Festerling has played in a year was 2009-10, when he appeared in 40-games for the Anaheim Ducks. He was one of the most protected players on the club in terms of zone start and the quality of competition, but didn’t do too much with the ice-time. A moderately sized guy who can skate, Festerling nonetheless has next to no offensive upside (career high output in the WHL was 14 points) and he’s never going to shut anyone down at the NHL level. His ceiling is no doubt 6th-7th defenseman, at best.
Minor news, but maybe this means the club is getting closer to signing Zach Bogosian.
