Jets sign Anthony Bitetto

After standing still on July 1, the Jets have finally made a free agent signing. The Jets’ official PR account reports that the team has signed defenceman Anthony Bitetto to a one-year, two-way contract.
Bitetto is nothing more than a depth addition for the Jets. He’s on a two-way deal, so there’s a good chance that he’ll function in a role as an injury call-up who spends most of his time with the Manitoba Moose.
There’s a chance you’re familiar with Bitetto as he’s done a bit of a tour of the Central Division. Bitetto has spent most of his career with the Nashville Predators but he also played a few games with the Minnesota Wild last season.
All told, Bitetto has played 132 NHL games over parts of five seasons, tallying 19 points while playing an average of 12:10 per game. His underlying numbers aren’t very good so ideally, he doesn’t have to play a big role with the Jets at all this season.
