Jets Prospect Update – February 9th

The Moose managed to steal a win from one of the leagues best teams on the heels of an offensive outburst from J.C. Lipon. We check in on him and all the rest in this Jets Prospect Update.
AHL

This week started out typically but ended on a high note for the Moose as they managed to split a two game series against one of the leagues elite teams in the Toronto Marlies. Not only did they manage to put up six goals in one of the games but they even out-shot (!!) their opposition and put up one of their best shot totals on the season with 44 on Saturday.
Leading the way was J.C. Lipon with his one goal four assist performance in Saturday’s game. After a bit of a down season last year Lipon is getting back to the play that had him looking so promising as a rookie pro. He’s already tied his AHL career high in goals and is pacing for new high in shot totals. While he’ll likely never be much of a scorer at the NHL level he is still looking like he could be a bottom line forward who chips in points here and there and is willing to stand up for team mates.
Among the rest of the Moose, looking strong this week were Nic Petan and Chase De Leo who each chipped in with two goals. Austen Brassard also had a goal and an assist, Josh Morrissey two assists, and Brendan Kichton, Jan Kostalek, and Scott Kosmachuck each put up one assist.
Eric Comrie struggled again this weekend after a very strong showing at the AHL All-Star game recently. He let in nine goals on sixty four shots and ended up getting pulled mid-way through Thursday’s game.
CHL

Brendan Lemieux and Michael Spacek both scored two goals and added an assist in two games played.
Jansen Harkins also scored twice and assisted on another in four games played for the Cougars this week.
Nelson Nogier and Matteo Gennaro were each held pointless in two games played.
NCAA

Jack Roslovic had one assist in two games played.
C.J. Franklin scored one goal in his two games for the week.
It was an off week for Connor as he only managed two assists in two games played. Though he hasn’t posted his usual gaudy numbers the last three games it’s not for lack of effort as he’s averaging just a little under seven shots per during that time.
Erik Foley scored a goal and added an assist in two games played.
Jamie Phillips picked up his second shutout of the season winning both his games this and only allowing one goal on 69 shots this weekend.
Mason Appleton and Jack Glover were both held pointless in their games for the week.
Tucker Poolman, Matt Ustaski, and Tanner lane did not play this week.
Europe

Sami Niku maintained his strong post WJC play putting up two goals and an assist in three games played and continuing to see his ice time rise.
Ivan Telegin was held pointless in two games and Pavel Kraskovsky did not play.
Other

Marcus Karlstrom had no points in two games played.
All stats as of Monday morning.
