Jets Claim Brett MacLean

Winnipeg added another body this morning, claiming 23-year old Brett MacLean off of waivers from the Phoenix Coyotes.
A former second round pick in 2007, MacLean was a two-time 100+ point getter in the OHL has been the top scorer for the San Antonio Rampage in the AHL over the last two years. The left/right winger was considered one of the Coyotes best prospects so this is definitely a no-risk, high-reward type of acquisition for the club.
MacLean only has 13 games of NHL experience, so he remains a bit of an unknown commodity. That said, a lot of arrows are pointing in the right direction and it won’t cost the Jets anything to give him a spin in the line-up to see if he sticks. Especially with Eric Fehr starting the year in the infirmary.
A savvy pick-up by Chevaldayoff just one day into the season.
