The Jets appear to be bringing back left handed defenseman Nathan Beaulieu according to a report by Renaud Lavoie.
The Jets traded for Beaulieu at the trade deadline from the Buffalo Sabres for a sixth round pick and ended up playing 18 games down the stretch for Winnipeg as he was a nice injury replacement for the club.

Beaulieu was set to be a restricted free agent at the end of this season, but the Jets didn’t tender a qualifying offer to him that would have paid him a little more, thus making him an unrestricted free agent. It’s clear though both sides felt there was a fit with each other and Beaulieu – much like Joe Morrow’s situation last summer – will be given a chance to come into camp and earn a spot on the main NHL roster.
A one year deal at one million is exactly the kind of low-key depth signing the Jets should be making a few times over over the next day or two as the core of the roster seems to be set, but some depth roles need to be taken care of.
Beaulieu is a low-risk and potentially good-reward signing.
