The Jets take care of a bit of roster housekeeping as they move Patrik Laine to the IR list retroactive to Janurary 7th and call up defenseman Julian Melchiori from the Manitoba Moose. The recall  was likely made as a precaution due to the fact Ben Chiarot missed the Jets practice on Thursday due to illness.

Chiarot will miss tonight’s game against the Coyotes as he did not make the trip to Arizona. Look for Mark Stuart to possibly draw into the lineup if not Melchiori.

Stuart has only played in 10 games this season with the Jets and has been listed as a healthy scratch for a length of time now.

Melchiori has played 4 games with the Jets this season back in early November. In 31 games with the Manitoba Moose of the AHL, he has 2 goals and 4 assists.

As for Laine, he did not travel with the Jets which rules him out for any action on this west coast trip. The Jets next game at home is Janurary 18 against the Coyotes.
