Winnipeg Jets fans were pleased to hear this afternoon that prospect Brad Lambert was named to the 2023-24 AHL All-Rookie team. The 1st round pick from the 2022 NHL entry draft is the 7th player in Manitoba Moose history to be named to one of the AHL All-Rookie teams.
Lambert’s successful season ranks him 3rd all-time among Manitoba Moose rookies with 52 points on the season. The 20-year old native of Lahti, Finland put up 20 goals and 32 assists in 62 games with the Moose this season. Prior to this year, Lambert spent his time during his first year after being drafted between the Manitoba Moose followed by the WHL Seattle Thunderbirds. Lambert spent 14 games with the Moose during the 2022-23 season before going down to the WHL to play with the Thunderbirds, where he put up 38 points in 26 games.
Some other achievements that Lambert achieved with the Moose this season include him being ranked 2nd out of all AHL rookies in points. As previously mentioned, his 52 points put him 3rd all-time by any Moose rookie. The month of March was when Brad Lambert stood out the most this season. Lambert was named the AHL Rookie of the Month for March after getting 18 points (4 goals and 14 assists) in 13 games. Lambert also got the opportunity earlier in the season to participate in the AHL’s 2024 All-Star classic.
The list of the 7 Manitoba Moose players to be honoured on the AHL All-Rookie team most recently includes current Winnipeg Jets forward Mason Appleton in 2017-18. Appleton scored 22 goals and added 44 assists for 66 points in his 1st season with the Moose. Appleton would spend one more season with the Moose before becoming an NHL regular, spending 6 out of his last 7 seasons with the Winnipeg Jets.
What does the future hold for Brad Lambert? Well, it’s pretty clear that he’s made some great progress towards making it to the big club with his performance with the Moose this season. When will Jets fans get a chance to see Lambert in Winnipeg? Could it be tomorrow against the Vancouver Canucks if the Jets decide to call up some players from the Moose for their final regular season game? It’s possible, but seems unlikely at the moment as the Manitoba Moose are focused, just as the Jets are, on their upcoming playoff run.
Whatever the case, Winnipeg Jets fans should get excited about Brad Lambert, as he will surely be fighting hard for a roster spot come next season.
